Oilers Finish 28th in Learfield Standings

The University of Findlay finished 28th in the NCAA Division II Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, which were announced on June 4 by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The Oilers athletic programs racked up a total of 458.50 points during the 2014-15 campaign. They did not score a point during the fall season, but racked up 255.50 points during the winter. They then closed the year with 203 points during the spring season.

Grand Valley State University won the cup for the tenth time in the past 12 years with 965.50 points while Ashland University finished second with 720 points. Overall, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) had the most athletic programs of any conference to appear in the top-100 with ten schools achieving the feat. The schools to appear in the top-100 are as follows:

Grand Valley State, 1st
Ashland, 2nd
Findlay, 28th
Wayne State, 33rd
Hillsdale, 39th
Tiffin, 45th
Ferris State, 81st
Saginaw Valley State, 84th

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's national finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women’s and seven men’s. In order to qualify in the rankings, you must have a team or individual compete at the national level in one of those 14 sports.
