Oilers Ranked 25th in Learfield Standings

The first spring edition of the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings have been released and reveal that the University of Findlay is one of the best NCAA Division II athletic institutions in the country. The Oilers have recorded 351.50 points in the standings, which is the 25th-best total among all NCAA Division II athletic programs.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports in Division II – seven men's and seven women's; and 18 sports in Division III-- nine women's and nine men's.

Every year since 1995, the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup has been given awarded to the year's best athletic institution and with 300 schools vying for position, a top finish requires success across all competing teams. Since joining NCAA DII competition in 2000, the highest Findlay has finished was 17th. That ranking came after the 2011-12 season of competition. The only other time the Oilers have been in the top 20 was in 2008-09 when they finished 19th.

The final set of standings for the year will be announced on June 9.
