Joey White Earns GLIAC Commissioner's Award

Bay City, MI – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the Commissioner's Award recipients for the 2016-17 Winter athletic season on Wednesday, April 19. The awards are presented after the Fall, Winter, and Spring athletic seasons to six female and six male student-athletes that excel both in the classroom and on the fields of play. All grade-point averages are based on a 4.0 scale. Six males and six females were chosen from around the league.

Findlay's Joey White, a senior wrestler from Dundee, Michigan, is one of the six male recipients. White maintained a 4.00 GPA while obtaining his Masters of Business Administration along with having a special year on the mat. White was ranked in the top eight in the country for most of the season at 157 pounds and was the top ranked wrestler in the region this year. He won the Midwest Regional Championship at his weight class and advanced to take sixth place in Birmingham, Alabama to earn all-American status.

Over the course of White's time at Findlay, he had a record of 117-53 and earned all-GLIAC honors three times. He reached two regional finals, winning one regional title, and was a national qualifier twice, earning all-American once. He eared GLIAC Academic All-Excellence three times and was twice named as an academic all-American.
