Final Learfield Cup Standings

Findlay, Ohio – 2017-18 proved to be one of the most successful campaigns in the history of Findlay athletics as the department ends the year ranked no. 17 in the annual Learfield Directors' Cup Standings with 513 points scored. It ties Findlay's highest finish in school history as they also earned a no. 17 ranking during the 2011-12 season. Not only is tied for the best finish the best in school history, but it also marks Findlay's spot as the top ranked school in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) as Hillsdale, which won the league's Presidents' Cup, finished 41 spots behind the Oilers in 58th.

The Oilers picked up 103 points in the fall season, second among G-MAC schools, but picked up a big chuck of its' points in the winter, scoring 331.75. Findlay closed the year with 78.25 points in the spring season to wrap up its' total and secure just the third top-20 finish in the standings in school history (finished no. 19 after the 2008-2009 season).

"To say that we are proud of this accomplishment is an understatement. There have been some incredibly competitive athletic seasons at Findlay and to say that 2017-18 is the best yet it a credit to all of our coaches and student-athletes who have spent countless hours working to better themselves on and off the field", commented Director of Athletics, Brandi Laurita. "While this achievement was earned by our current collection of Oilers, it could not have been achieved without the work of those in the past. Our former coaches, former administrators, and Oilers alumni helped lay the foundation for our current success and for that we are grateful. We only hope that this 2017-18 season will someday be looked on as one of many top finishes in the Learfield Standings."

Every year since 1995, the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup has been given awarded to the year's best athletic institution and with 300 schools vying for position, a top finish requires success across all competing teams.

Securing the Learfield Cup crown is California Baptist, who accumulated 905 points.
