Henry | Torres Earn Athlete of the Year Honors at Findlay

Junior track and field standout Eldred Henry was voted the 2018-19 James D. Houdeshell Male Athlete of the Year while senior women's golfer Makenzie Torres captured the Sharon G. Milligan Female Athlete of the Year honor for the Oilers.

Henry had a remarkable season for the Oilers and never lost a shot put competition. He also broke NCAA Division II shot put records during both the indoor and outdoor seasons with marks of 20.61 meters and 21.47 meters, respectively.

During the indoor season, Henry was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Field Athlete of the Year after winning the national championship in the shot put. He also won a conference title in the event to earn first team all-league honors and was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Field Athlete of the Year.

In outdoor competition, Henry won the national title in the shot put and also earned All-American honors in the discus. He was selected as the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Field Athlete of the Year and also captured G-MAC Field Athlete of the Year accolades. Henry was also named first team all-conference as well after winning conference titles in the shot put and discus.

Torres led the Oilers to their highest finish ever during her final season as the Oilers tied for fifth at the NCAA Division II National Championship. She also led the team to their first East Region title and was named a second team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Torres, who was a first team all-East Region pick, earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season and was a first team all-conference selection. Her 75.17 scoring average during the year was also the second-best in program history.

At the NCAA Division II National Championship, Torres finished tenth with a 54-hole score of 227. She finished as the runner-up at the regional with a 54-hole score of 221 and was also the runner-up at the G-MAC Championship with a 54-hole score of 229. She also won the Cav Classic with a 36-hole score of 148 and took home first place honors at the Dayton Invitational with a two-round score of 139.

Torres finished her career with a scoring average of 76.39, the lowest in school history. She was also named all-region three times and was an all-conference pick four times.
