Oilers Explode For 17-4 Win Over Storm

The University of Findlay baseball team defeated Lake Erie College by a score of 17-4 on Saturday, April 16 at Fifth Third Field to give them an 8-20-1 record on the season with a 5-12 record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The second game of the twin bill was cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

The Oilers offense exploded, churning out 19 hits and a season-high 17 runs as Nathaniel Fitch finished 5-for-5 with six runs-batted-in.

Reid Rothenbuhler also had a big day at the plate for Findlay, finishing 3-for-4 with four runs-batted-in and three runs scored while Tommy Roush collected three hits and two runs scored on the evening.

Jason Reitenbach hit a home run and finished with a pair of hits and three runs scored while Robert Marsh and Dustin Zielaskiewicz each recorded two hits apiece in the win.

Marsh also drove in two runs and scored two more while Zielaskiewicz crossed the plate twice as well.

On the mound, Matt Weber picked up the victory after allowing three runs, none earned, on six hits in five innings of work.

The Oilers and Storm will face each other again tomorrow in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
