Northwood Sweeps Oilers

The University of Findlay baseball team was swept by Northwood University on Sunday, May 8 in Midland, Michigan to end their season and give them a 15-31-1 record with a 12-23 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

In the first game, the Oilers fell 2-1 as Ryan Rothenbuhler allowed two runs on six hits in six innings of work.

Tommy Roush went 2-for-3 at the plate while Dylan Cintula drove in Findlay's lone run in the second inning.

In the second contest, the Oilers were defeated by a score of 7-6 as the Timberwolves scored two in the bottom of the sixth to come from behind.

Down 5-1, the Oilers scored one run in the fourth and then put four more on the board in the fifth to claim the lead before Northwood regained control an inning later.

Roush went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in a run while David Cort registered two runs-batted-in.

Preston Zachrich was saddled with the loss in relief of Troy Balduf as he allowed two runs on two hits in 1.2 innings.

Balduf started and allowed five runs, only three earned, on eight hits in four innings of action.

During the 2011 season, the Oilers dropped 13, one-run games.
