Cardinals Fly Past Oilers

The University of Findlay baseball team was swept by Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday, April 2 at Fifth Third Field. The Oilers lost the first game of the doubleheader 12-2 and then fell 3-2 in the second to drop to 2-15-1 on the year with a 0-8 record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Ryan Rothenbuhler (0-4) took the loss in the opener after allowing eight runs, only five earned, on eight hits in five innings of work.

Jason Reitenbach and Reid Rothenbuhler each had two hits apiece to lead the offense.

In the second game, the Oilers and Cardinals were tied at 2-2 in the seventh, but Saginaw Valley State scored an unearned run to claim the lead and ultimately the game.

Derek Draper (0-2) took the loss after allowing one run in one inning in relief of Drew Hargrove who started and threw six innings of two-run ball.

Rothenbuhler had another good game at the dish, finishing 3-for-4 while Dylan Cintula and Victor Migliore each added two hits apiece.

The Oilers will host the Cardinals in a twin bill tomorrow beginning at 12 pm.
