The University of Findlay baseball team split a twin bill against Ashland University on Sunday, May 1 at Fifth Third Field to give them a 14-28-1 record on the season with an 11-20 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Eagles defeated the Oilers 12-1 in the first game as Troy Balduf took the loss after allowing three runs on two hits in one inning of work.

Kyle Wilson drove in the Oilers lone run with a single in the sixth that scored Reid Rothenbuhler.

It took nine innings in the second game for the Oilers to pull out a 6-5 win.

Trailing by one run in the bottom of the sixth, Dylan Cintula drove home Dustin Zielaskiewicz with a single to center to tie the game at 5-5.

After a few scoreless frames, Jason Reitenbach led off the ninth with a single to right and was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Rothenbuhler. Tommy Roush then was intentionally walked and both runners advanced on a passed ball. An error by the Eagles third baseman then brought home the winning run for the Oilers.

Derek Draper picked up the win in relief, throwing 2.1 innings of scoreless ball.

Preston Zachrich also pitched well, throwing 3.1 innings of scoreless ball in relief of Darrell Thobe who started and allowed five runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings.

Cintula finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and three runs-batted-in while Wilson went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
