Black Wins Series

Team Orange took game two, but team Black won the deciding game in dramatic fashion to claim the annual Orange and Black series.

Team Orange struck first when Eric Terwilleger led off the first inning with a single. With one-out, Dylan Cintula walked and Blake Schmenk followed with a single to score Terwilligar. Nathaniel Fitch followed with a walk to load the bases and with two outs Clark Henson drew a walk to score Cintula and a 2-0. Unfortunately for them they would not pose another threat as team Black scored seven unanswered runs.

Team black would score two runs in the 2nd inning to tie the score. Garrett Busch singled to lead off the inning. He reached second when Dave Cort  attempted to sacrifice him over and reached himself on a throwing error by the pitcher. With one out Dustin Zielaskiewicz walked and  Jeff Foley followed by getting hit by a pitch to score Busch. Cort scored on a sacrifice fly by Reid Rothenbuhler to tie the score.

The score would stay tied until the bottom of the sixth inning when team Black scored five runs to open the game up. Busch would once again get things started with a single and move over to second on a sac bunt by Cort.  Matt Vollmar's single plated  Busch for the go-ahead run but they were not done. Zielaskiewicz walked and Tyler Simmons-Eakin singled to score Vollmar. Rothenbuhler would add his second RBI of the game with a single to push the lead to 6-2. Tommy Roush plated Rothenbuhler with a single to complete the scoring.

Preston Zachrich 2 innings; 2 runs; 1 hit; 3 K's; 1 walk. Jon Walker 2 innings; 2 K's 1 hit; 1 walk. Charles Widen 1 inning; 1 K. Derek Draper 1/3 inning; 3 runs; 2 hits 1 walk. Mike Steel 1/3 inning; 2 runs; 2 hits; 1 K. Andrew Lee 1/3 inning.

Pitching for team  Orange:

Ethan James 2 innings; 4 runs; 1 hit; 4 walks 2 K's. Darrell Thobe 2 innings; 1 hit. Dillion Kliesch 1 inning; 0 runs; 0 hits. Mike Fry 1 inning; 0 runs; 0 hits.  Victor Migliore 1 inning; 1 hit; 1HBP.

Game 3

The game was in cruise control as both teams were deadlocked until the fifth inning when team Black erupted for four runs. With one out Rothenbuhler coaxed a walk which Ross Tonyan followed with a single. One out later Roush got team Black on the board with a single. Migliore walked to load the bases  and Cort and Vollmar laced back-to-back singles to extend the lead to 4-0.

Team Orange would not be denied as they entered their last at-bat they strung together five straight hits. Terwilliger led off with a double and Cintula singled to cut the lead to 4-1. Blake Schmenk singled and Nate Fitch followed with an RBI single. Austin Michel would supply the big hit with a single to plate the tying run.

In the eighth team Black posed a threat by loading the bases and one out but a double-play erased.
In the ninth  Schmenk and Fitch walked with one out and Jon Schollenberger became the hero by banging the game winning single.

Drew  Hargrove 4 innings; 0 runs; 0 hits; 3 k's, 1 walk. Alex Williams  1 inning; 0 runs; 1 hit; 1 k.  Thobe 2 runs; 3 hits. Mike Fry 2 innings; 1 run; 1 hit; 2 walks; 1 k.
