Big Inning Lifts Oilers Past Mansfield

The University of Findlay baseball team beat Mansfield University 8-1 on Friday, March 9th in Leesburg, Fla.

The Oilers jumped on the board early, scoring seven of their eight runs in the second inning.

Blake Schmenk started the big inning off with a one out bunt single then stole second and scored on a Ross Tonyan RBI single to right field.  Victor Migliore and David Cort each singled to load the bases for Dustin Zielaskiwicz, whose ground out to second scored Tonyan.  Devon Christian then smoked a two-run double to right center field scoring Cort and Migliore.  After Eric Terwilliger and Reid Rothenbuhler reached base, Tommy Roush cleared the bases with a three-run double.

Preston Zachrich recorded his first win of the season, giving up one earned run on five hits while striking out six in six inning of work.

With the win, Findlay bumps their record up to 4-4 on the season.

The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, March 17th to take on Walsh in their home opener at Findlay, Ohio.
