Roush Has Six Hit Day In Split With Warriors
The University of Findlay baseball team split a pair with Wayne State on Sunday, March 25th in Detroit, Mich.
In game one, the Oilers score eight runs in the sixth to overcome a one run deficit and beat the Warriors 15-8.
Riley Christian and Tommy Roush each went 4-for-5 with two RBI's and scored twice to lead the way offensively at the plate for Findlay while Reid Rothenbuhler chipped in with two hits and three RBI's including a two-run home run in the fourth.
Garrett Busch also showed poise at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored.
Mike Fry picked up with win for the Oilers striking out four in two innings.
Findlay battled for seven solid innings but fell 2-1 in game two.
After tying the game in the top of the seventh on Victor Migliore's two out RBI single that scored Christian, Wayne State was able to manufacture a run in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win.
Roush recorded his fifth and sixth hits of the afternoon, including three doubles, with his 2-for-3 performance at the plate in game two. Christian, Migliore and Blake Schmenk each chipped in with a hit apiece.
Despite a four hit, six strikeout performance in 6 and 2/3 innings on the mound, Darrell Thobe took the loss for the Oilers.
With the split, Findlay's overall record moves to 6-9 on the season with a 1-3 mark in GLIAC play. They will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Ohio Dominican in a twin bill at Fifth Third Field in Findlay, Ohio.
