Oilers Split A Pair In Painesville

The University of Findlay baseball team split a pair of games with Lake Erie on Sunday, April 15 in Painesville, Ohio.

Down 11-7 in the sixth inning of game one, Riley Christian hit a double to score Dustin Zielaskiwicz, who singled, and Blake Schmenk, who walked earlier in the inning.  Tommy Roush then hit a two-run home run to tie the game at 11.  After Reid Rothenbuhler doubled and David Cort was hit by a pitch, Dylan Cintula recorded the sacrifice fly to put Findlay up by a run.

However, Lake Erie would score in the bottom of the inning and tack on one in the seventh to record the walk-off win.

Rothenbuhler led the Oilers going 3-for-3 at the plate with a walk and scored three times.  Roush was 2-for-4 with four runs batted in while Christian went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI.

Findlay defeated Lake Erie 16-13 in game two, picking up their first win of the weekend.

Schmenk was 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, two RBIs and scored four times.  Victor Migliore went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored.  Christian, Roush and Cintula each had two hits while Roush hit his second home run of the day.

Ethan James picked up the win for the Oilers while Migliore recorded the save.

Findlay's record moves to 13-20 on the year with a 6-14 mark in conference play.  They will be back in action on Wednesday to take on Ohio Dominican in Columbus, Ohio.
