Oilers Come Back For Split

The University of Findlay Oilers baseball team split a pair of games with Ashland University on Friday, April 27th in Ashland, Ohio.

Findlay dropped the first game 5-1.  The Oilers only run came in the top of the seventh when Dustin Zielaskiwicz scored on a fielding error after hitting a triple down the right field line.  Blake Schmenk, Reid Rothenbuhler and Riley Christian recorded the only other hits for Findlay.

Preston Zachrich took the loss allowing three earned runs on seven hits in six innings while striking out six.

The Oilers scored three in the top of the seventh to come from behind and win game two, 5-4.

After Zielaskiwicz and David Cort singled to lead off the inning, Schmenk picked up the first RBI of the inning on a ground out to second to make the score 4-3, in favor of Ashland.  Christian then stepped up and smoked an RBI double to left center to tie the game at four.  Rothenbuhler's RBI single as the very next batter gave the Oilers their winning run.

Christian was 3-for-3 in the game with a double, two RBIs and scored once.

Derek Draper picked up his first win of the season while Alex Williams recorded his eighth save.

The Oilers will conclude their four game series against Ashland on Sunday.
