Oilers Win Two Against Northwood

The University of Findlay baseball team swept a double header against Northwood University on Saturday, May 5 in Findlay, Ohio.

In game one, the Oilers scored five in the second and three in the fifth to cap off a 12-0 victory.

Tommy Roush recorded three RBIs with one swing of the bat with a three run double in the second.

Riley Christian led the way for Findlay going 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and scored twice.  Blake Schmenk was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI while Reid Rothenbuhler and Victor Migliore each recorded two hits in the game.

Preston Zachrich went the distance to earn the complete game shutout allowing just five hits while walking two and striking out six.

The Oilers came back from a 4-1 deficit in the last inning of the second game to win 5-4.

David Cort made the score 4-2 when he singled to score Dustin Zielaskiewicz with one out in the seventh inning.  Dylan Cintula then tripled down the left field line to score Cort.  After Andrew Lee came in to pinch run for Cintula, Lee would score the tying run, beating the throw from the shortstop on a ground ball.

The winning run came when Rothenbuhler dodged the tag attempt by the first baseman after a ground ball to the shortstop. Jon Shollenberger scored to end the game on the play.

With the wins, the Oilers overall record jumps to 18-29 on the season with a 11-23 mark in GLIAC play.  The Oilers will wrap up the series and their season tomorrow.
