Oilers Split To Conclude Series With Saginaw
The University of Findlay baseball team split a pair of games with Saginaw Valley State to wrap up their three game series on Wednesday, April 3 in University Center, Mich.
The Oilers scored four runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to steal the first game, 6-5.
Blake Schmenk led the Oilers at the plate with three of the team's seven hits, and scored the game's tying run in the final inning on a throwing error.
Victor Migliore was 1-for-3 with two RBI's, while Tommy Roush and Michael Louis also chipped in with one hit and an RBI each.
Preston Zachrich went five and a third innings allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out four. Alex Williams picked up his second win of the season as a reliever, striking out three in an inning and two thirds.
The Oilers' offense could only muster two runs in the second game, falling to Saginaw 5-2.
Jon Shollenberger recorded the team's only RBI in the game, going 2-for-2 with a double and scored a run.
Roush also went 2-for-2 in the contest and scored Findlay's other run.
Ethan James took the loss, pitching four and a third, giving up four earned runs on six hits while striking out three.
With the split, the Oilers move to 10-13 on the season with a 4-8 record in GLIAC play. They will be back in action on Saturday, when they host Walsh University at Fifth Third Field in Findlay, Ohio.
