Orange Wins 3-Game Series

The University of Findlay baseball team ended their fall with a competitive intersquad three-game series under the lights.  The Orange team, drafted by Jon Shollenberger and Derek Draper, compiled a potent roster with power at almost every spot in the lineup.  The Grey team, with Reid Rothenbuhler and Andrew Hargrove at the helm, assembled a team with superior speed and defense.  Experts predicted a close and exciting series between the two squads.

Game one did not disappoint.  Jon Walker (Orange) and Andrew Hargrove (Grey) dueled to a 1-1 tie until the top of the seventh when Chase Goulette scored on an Orange team throwing error.  The Orange team would rally back in the bottom half of the seventh however and continue their rally into the bottom half of the ninth when Tyler Donaldson scored on Nick Antonides walk-off hit. 

Game two continued the excitement with another pitching duel by Mike Steele of the Orange team and Mason Mayberry of the Grey team.  Chase Goulette delivered with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh to give the Grey team the victory, 3-2.  

Game three, only a three-inning contest, concluded the electrifying series.  After several controversial calls, the Orange team took home the title by winning 1-0 after scoring a run in the top of the first.  Alex Williams finished the game with a save. 

This was Steve Parrill's first fall as head coach of the Oilers baseball team. 

"I saw a lot of positive things to build on for the spring", said coach Parrill.
