Oilers Swept by GVSU

The University of Findlay baseball team finished up their series with Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI on Sunday, April 27. The 12-4 loss gave GVSU the sweep and moved the Oilers record to 11-27 overall and 8-20 in conference play.

Findlay jumped on top when, in the first inning, Logan Harrah doubled and was driven in on a Reid Rothenbuhler homerun. The lead did not last as the Lakers matched the Oilers output, tying the game at two in the bottom half of the frame.

The next Findlay run came when Rothenbuhler, who had four hits in the game, doubled in Kevin Schrock, giving the Oilers the lead at 3-2.

GVSU rallied and scored 10 runs over the next four innings, making their lead 12-3 with only two innings to play.

Findlay scratched a run across in the ninth but it was not enough to avoid the loss.

Drew Hargrove took the loss on the mound for the Oilers as he pitched 3.1 innings and allowed seven runs on eight hits. He struck out four.

Rothenbuhler collected four hits and had all four of Findlay's RBI in the contest.

The Oilers are back at home after a lengthy stint on the road with a GLIAC contest this Wednesday, April 30th vs. Ashland University.
