Big Inning Dooms Oilers

The University of Findlay baseball team traveled to Tiffin for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest against the Dragons and lost by a final of 9-5. The loss moves the Oilers to 11-29 overall and 8-22 in conference play.

Findlay got on top in the first inning as they scored on a Reid Rothenbuhler double, scoring Peter Yorgen.

The 1-0 lead remained until the fourth inning when Tiffin had an enormous inning, plating seven runs and giving them a 7-1 lead.

The Oilers chipped away with two more in the sixth when Nick Antonides doubled in Miguel Valdez and Joe Sickler.

Entering the ninth, down 9-3, Findlay scored another pair of runs when Austin Adams reached on an error and scored Eric Riha and when Derek Draper doubled, driving in Adams. The two runs were not enough and the Oilers fell 9-5.

Collin Parrill took the loss on the hill as he pitched 3.1 innings and allowed six runs on four hits. He walked five and struck out three.

Rothenbuhler, who has been hitting well as of late, picked up three hits in the contest while Draper had two. Antonides had two RBI in the loss.

Findlay is back at The Cube for their final games of the year as they play host to the Northwood University Timberwolves for a trio of games with the first on Saturday, May 3rd at 3:00pm.
