Orange Squad Prevails in Inclement Weather

The University of Findlay baseball team concluded their fall season with the Annual Orange and Black series on Friday, October 17. Game 1, which was suspended from Thursday due to darkness, saw the Black squad come out on top 6-5.

In Game 2, the Black team jumped out to an early lead, but Orange came back and won by a final of 11-6, forcing a winner-take-all Game 3.

The game, which was played in 55 degrees, a stiff wind, and light rain, saw Black take the early lead but Orange rallied in the final inning, taking a 6-4 lead and securing the win on a spectacular over-the-shoulder grab at second base from senior Tyler Donaldson. The double-play ended the series with the Orange team collecting the trophy.

Orange senior Captain Jon Shollenberger said after the thrilling victory, "Despite trailing early, we remained confident in one another and came through in the end. "

"I was happy with the way we competed against each other", said Coach Parrill, "we are a hard-nosed, scrappy team and that was exemplified in this series. Overall, I was happy with the fall season. The returning players have improved and the new players have raised, not only their own level of play to meet the demands of collegiate baseball, but have raised our talent level as a team. It has me excited as we move forward into winter workouts and eventually the spring."
