With the loss, the Oilers record falls to 8-10 overall. BGSU, a Division I opponent that competes in the Mid-American Conference, improves their record to 9-16.

The Falcons opened up an early lead as they scored single runs in the first and third innings before Findlay was able to get on the board.

The Oilers did finally score in the fifth inning when, with two outs, sophomore Troy Merriman was hit by a pitch and advanced on an error by the Falcons' second baseman. Freshman Brian Cappiello was also hit by a pitch to load the bases and a passed ball allowed Merriman to score, getting the score to 2-1.

BGSU added to their lead as they score one run in each of the next three innings giving them five for the game.

Findlay did not go away quietly as they picked up a couple runs in the top of the seventh inning. With a runner on and two outs, Cappiello roped a double to right center field, putting two men on base. Freshman Derrick Herd then delivered with a two-RBI single to center to pull the Oilers within one run at 4-3.

One more run would cross for Findlay, which came in the eighth, but it was not enough as BGSU would get the Oilers' hitters to go 1-2-3 in the ninth to seal the victory.

All of the Oilers runs were unearned as Bowling Green made four errors.
