Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay baseball team dropped a non-conference game on Tuesday, April 11 against the #10 Indianapolis Greyhounds by a score of 4-1. With the loss the Oilers fall to 17-12 on the year while UIndy improves to 24-10. It was the first time the teams have met in Findlay since April 15, 2003.

The Greyhounds wasted no time getting on the board and were able to score a single run in the top of the first on the strength of three hits. They added two more in the third and one in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.

Findlay, which had just three hits through five innings, would not score until the bottom of the sixth, and inning which began with an error by the Greyhound's pitcher that allowed junior Josh Schwerer to reach safely. Senior Logan Harrah then recorded a bunt single that moved Schwerer to third. Freshman Casey Gould then poked a ball into left center for a single and the Oilers only run of the day. The inning ended with a strikeout, foul out, and a strikeout to leave two runners stranded.

Senior Miguel Valdez finished the day with two hits and a hit-by-pitch to reach base three times while Gould had a hit and the lone RBI for Findlay.

Junior Alexander Theiss took the loss on the hill and is now 2-1 on the season. He threw 4.2 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits. He walked one and struck out two.

Findlay's bullpen platooned the final 4.1 innings and combined to allow just three hits without allowing a run while striking out three and walking just one.

Findlay dives back in to league play with a home doubleheader against Walsh University on Friday, April 14. Those games will begin at 1:00 pm.
