Three Earn All-GLIAC Honors | Harrah Wins Troy Berry Award

Xenia, OH - The University of Findlay baseball team had three players selected by the coaches in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as all-conference performers. The awards were announced at the pre-tournament banquet in Xenia, Ohio. Sophomore Mark Delas was voted to the All-GLIAC Second Team while senior Peter Yorgen and junior Colin Gossard were selected as honorbale mention winners. On top of the all-conference awards, senior Logan Harrah was chosen as the recipient of the Troy Berry Award, named after Oilers long time head coach and current administrator, which is presented annually to the GLIAC baseball player who best combines outstanding character and leadership on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

Mark Delas had a solid second year on the mound for the Orange and Black. He appeared in ten games and earned nine starts this season, throwing 52.1 innings, second-most on the team. He had an ERA of 4.30 and struck out a team-high 73 batters, which was fourth-most in the league this season. The Perrysburg, Ohio native had three games with nine strikeouts or more including a career-high 12 strikeouts on Mar. 6 against West Va. Weslyan. This is Delas' first all-conference award.

Senior Peter Yorgen saved his best season for last. The Dayton, Ohio native started in all 45 games for Findlay and played both outfield and catcher. He led the team with a .356 batting average, stroking 57 hits for the Oilers. He led the team in multiple other categories including total bases (84), RBI (35), doubles (16), and home runs (3). He had a career-high four hits against Barry University on Mar. 5, part of the 20-game hitting streak Yorgen had to begin the season.

Colin Gossard was essential to the Oilers pitching staff yet again. The Lima, Ohio native made ten starts and threw 52.1 innings. He had an ERA of 5.33 and recorded 70 strikeouts, fifth-most in the GLIAC this season. Gossard had five games this season with eight or more strikeouts including a season-high ten strikeouts against Wayne St. on Apr. 1.

Lastly, senior Logan Harrah was chosen as the Troy Berry Award winner for 2017. A native of Newton Falls, Ohio, Harrah was a four-year starter for the Oilers and led this year's squad with 11 stolen bases and 35 runs scored. But it was his work off the field that impressed coaches from around the league. Logan graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.79 and was heavily involved the community. He helped organize events for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on campus and was instrumental in the Oilers' student-athlete involvement at Miracle Field, a baseball field that provides a safe and fun environment for those with special needs. Harrah also volunteered time at Bigelow Elementary School where he mentored fourth grade students. His list of off-the-field achievements wraps up with the Midwest Baseball Academy where Harrah spent time as a supervisor and director of instruction to help teach the game of baseball to youth in the area.
