Findlay Drops Opener at Lincoln Memorial

Harrogate, Ten.  – The University of Findlay traveled to Tennessee to begin a three-game set with Lincoln Memorial University in a non-conference matchup on March 29. In Friday's matchup, it was the Railsplitters who dominated, outscoring the Oilers 15-1 in the nine-inning affair. With the loss, Findlay drops to 9-11 overall while LMU improves to 24-11.

Lincoln Memorial scored four runs in the second, five in the third, and three in the fifth to take a commanding 12-0 lead through just four innings. They then added single runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth inning to take a 15-0 advantage.

The Oilers scored their lone run of the game in the ninth and final inning when senior Josh Keller picked up his first career hit, a double to left field with one out. Keller came around to score on an infield single by junior Greg Kanavel.

Findlay had eight hits and made four errors while LMU scored their 15 runs on 16 hits and did not make an error.

Senior Nic Varda had a pair of hits, both singles, to lead the offense. Keller had a double and a run scored.

Freshman Anthony Kyle started and took the loss on the hill as he threw 2.2 innings and gave up nine runs, five earned, on seven hits. He walked three and struck out three.

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow for a double-header with the Railsplitters. That game will begin at noon.
