Oilers Earn High Point Honors in Region
The University of Findlay finished the regular season strongly with many wins at both the morning and afternoon shows. UF was named highpoint team for both shows, accumulating 29 points in the morning and 28 points in the afternoon. This solidified their spot as highpoint team for the region and guaranteed a spot at semifinals with a season total of 243 season points.
High point rider for both the morning and afternoon was UF junior Elizabeth Hayes, with fellow junior Ashley Winters as reserve for the morning and sophomore Holly Phillips as reserve for the afternoon.
The seasonal high point rider for the region is UF senior Josh Clevenger, who accumulated 74 points throughout the season. He was followed by Ashley Winters with 71 points and Elizabeth Hayes with 70 points. Despite intense competition throughout the season, Clevenger won, securing himself a spot at the IHSA nationals for the second year in a row. At nationals he will be competing in the AQHA High Point Cup, which contains both a horsemanship and reining portion. He also qualified for regionals in both the horsemanship and reining.
