Fields Invited To East Coast Bowl

Senior defensive back Anthony Fields has been selected to play in the 2009 East Coast Bowl Game, a contest designed for Division I-FCS, II, III and NAIA draft eligible seniors who have excelled on the field. Fields is the first Oilers player to ever receive an invitation to participate in the game.

The game, which will take place on November 28 in Petersburg, Virginia, will have numerous professional football scouts on hand to take in the festivities. Last year, 19 players who participated in the game signed NFL contracts.

Fields, a 5'10, 195-pound corner from Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, finished his senior season with 73 total tackles and three interceptions. A two-time, first team all-conference selection, Fields finished third in the GLIAC with 14 passes defended and led his squad to the 25th best pass defense in the country by allowing only 166.7 yards per contest through the air.
