3 Oilers Earn 2nd Team All-GLIAC Honors
Senior wide receiver Dustin Zielaskiewicz, senior offensive lineman Nathan Schaffer and senior kicker Cameron Stevens of The University of Findlay football team were all named second team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) on Wednesday, November 17.
Zielaskiewicz led the Oilers with 47 receptions for 570 yards and five touchdowns. He also tallied 134 rushing yards and completed one pass for 29 yards and a score.
For his career, Zielaskiewicz ranks fourth all-time in receptions with 129.
Schaffer, now a two-time, second team all-league pick, has been a four-year starter on the offensive line and has paved the way for Findlay's stellar rushing attack during his tenure on the team.
Stevens connected on ten field goals this season and ranks first all-time with 44 career field goals in a Findlay uniform.
In addition, sophomore running back Monterae Williams, junior defensive lineman Craig Hoying, sophomore defensive lineman Richard Sumlin, freshman linebacker Kenny Klatt, senior tight end Steve Winner and sophomore offensive lineman Scott Dearwester all took home honorable mention all-GLIAC honors.
Williams, the 2009 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, led the team with 1,107 rushing yards and four touchdowns while Hoying had an outstanding year along the defensive line with 74 tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss and 7.0 sacks.
Sumlin, an honorable mention all-league pick last year as well, registered 61 tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks while Klatt finished with 114 tackles, the 14th best mark nationally.
Winner caught 17 passes for 141 yards and a score while Dearwester started every game at center for the second straight season.
Hillsdale's Troy Weatherhead was named the GLIAC Player of the Year, Michigan Tech's Phil Milbrath earned Offensive Back of the Year honors, Grand Valley State's Cameron Bradfield was the Offensive Lineman of the Year, Indianapolis' Craig Ray captured Defensive Back of the Year honors, Michigan Tech's Todd Storm earned Defensive Lineman of the Year, Ashland's Jamie Meder was selected as the Freshman of the Year and Michigan Tech's Tom Kearly earned Coach of the Year.
