#17 Warriors Defeat Oilers 44-27

The University of Findlay football team ended their season with a 44-27 loss at the hands of #17 Wayne State University on Saturday, November 13 at Donnell Stadium. The loss gave the Oilers a 1-10 record on the season with a 1-9 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Down 34-20 in the fourth quarter, the Oilers cut the Warriors lead to seven when freshman quarterback Zach Tate came on in relief of senior John Soli, who was shaken up, and threw a 21 yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Dustin Zielaskiewicz with 7:20 remaining in the game.

After a Wayne State field goal, the Oilers were looking to get another score on their next possession, but a fumble on the kick-off led to seven points for the Warriors and ended any hope of a comeback victory.

Zielaskiewicz was the star on offense for the Oilers as he caught eight passes for 101 yards and a score. He also completed one pass for 29 yards and a touchdown and rushed four times for 43 yards.

Zielaskiewicz finishes his career ranked fourth all-time with 129 receptions.

Soli completed 17-of-27 passes for 150 yards and a score while sophomore running back Monterae Williams rushed 21 times for 73 yards.

Senior kicker Cameron Stevens connected on two field goals during the game, one from 48 yards out, and ends his career as the all-time leader in field goals with 44.

Defensively, freshman linebacker Kenny Klatt registered 12 tackles while senior defensive back Bryon Rizzi and sophomore linebacker Brandon Butler had nine stops each.
