Ballard, Williams Earn 1st Team All-GLIAC Honors

Senior defensive back Isaiah Ballard and junior running back Monterae Williams were voted first team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as the league office released their annual postseason awards on Wednesday, November 16.

Ballard finished the season with 96 total tackles, which included 67 solo stops.  He also led the conference as well as the nation in forced fumbles with six.

The Toledo, Ohio native added two interceptions and four fumble recoveries, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

As a return man, Ballard averaged 28.2 yards per kick return, the second best mark in the GLIAC and the 11th best average in the nation.

Williams finished the season with 1,268 yards rushing, averaging 5.1 yards per carry.  He also scored 18 touchdowns on the ground and averaged 115.3 yards per contest, which ranks 15th nationally.

The Canton, Ohio native added recorded seven 100-yard rushing games on the year and added 14 receptions for 121 yards and a score.

His 114 total points scored on the year is the third best mark in school history and he know ranks fourth all-time at Findlay with 3,312 career rushing yards.

Junior center Scott Dearwester was also rewarded for his stellar play this year and was named second team all-conference.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native helped pave the way for the Oilers outstanding rushing attack, which averaged 191.1 yards per game.  His efforts also led to the Oilers averaging 392.4 yards per game on offense.

In addition, senior defensive back Donte Johnson, red-shirt sophomore tight end Jaryd Brown, junior linebacker Brandon Butler, junior defensive tackle Richard Sumlin, sophomore wide receiver Seth White and sophomore offensive tackle Justin Music earned honorable mention all-league honors.

Johnson registered 78 tackles and two interceptions on the season while Brown hauled in 46 passes for 598 yards and six touchdowns.

Butler led the team with 102 tackles, Sumlin made 44 stops and recorded a team-high 4.5 sacks while White recorded 60 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns.

Music protected the blindside and started all nine games in which he played in.
