Oilers Cruise to 41-17 Win Over Tiffin

The University of Findlay football team rolled to a 41-17 win over Tiffin University on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Donnell Stadium to improve their record to 4-1 on the season.  The victory also gives them a 4-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers ran a total of 82 plays in the game and racked up 514 yards of total offense.  They threw for 305 yards, ran for 209 more and averaged 6.3 yards per play during the game.  The offense was also very efficient on third down, converting 9-of-13 attempts and racked up a school record-tying 33 first downs in the win.

Senior quarterback Clay Belton completed 26-of-37 passing attempts for 299 yards and three touchdowns while senior running back Monterae Williams carried the ball 25 times for 138 yards and three scores.

Williams also added four catches for 20 yards and his three scores in the game gives him 37 for his career as he passed Dana Wright (1984-86) for fifth place on the Oilers all-time career touchdown list.

Junior tight end Jaryd Brown recorded seven catches for 68 yards and a touchdown while junior wide receiver Seth White had four receptions for 58 yards and a score.

Sophomore wide receiver Lloyd Henry added 37 yards receiving and a touchdown while red-shirt sophomore wide receiver Nathan Morris hauled in three catches for 66 yards.

Defensively the Oilers held the Dragons to 318 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers in the game.

Sophomore defensive back Feraris Golden led the team with a career-high ten tackles while senior linebacker Brandon Butler made eight stops.

The Oilers will be back at home again next Saturday when they host Ohio Dominican University.  The contest, which is Homecoming, is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Donnell Stadium.
