Football Spring Game Slated for Saturday

Football Spring Game Slated for Saturday

The University of Findlay football team will hold their annual spring game on Saturday, April 20.  The event is free and open to the public and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. inside Donnell Stadium.

Coach Keys and his staff divided the roster into two units with offensive lineman playing for both.  The orange team, which will wear white jerseys, features two all-conference players from last year in senior wide receiver/punter Seth White and senior tight end Jaryd Brown.  White was a second team all-conference pick while Brown earned honorable mention all-conference honors.

The black team will feature a strong defensive unit as the squad has nine players with starting experience.  Senior defensive back Ray Ballard, a second team all-conference pick last year, will lead the squad along with fellow defensive back Jamon McClain, an honorable mention all-league performer.

The spring game festivities will begin with a tailgate outside the stadium at noon.  The third annual flag football alumni game will then begin at 1 pm before the Oilers take the field at 2 pm for their spring contest.

Later in the evening the Oilers will hold a reverse raffle and dinner at Alexandria's in downtown Findlay.  Raffle tickets can be purchased by contacting Troy Rothenbuhler at (419) 434-5600.  You can also email him at rothenbuhler@findlay.edu.

After a Saturday full of events, the Oilers will hold a golf outing at Sycamore Spring Golf Course in Arlington, Ohio on Sunday, April 21, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.  To register a single or a foursome, please contact Dan Hott at (419) 434-4031.  You can also email him at hott@findlay.edu.  Teams for this event must be registered by April 16.

The Oilers are coming off of a 2012 season in which they finished with a 7-3 record.  They had six players earn either first or second team all-conference honors.
