9 Oiler Football Players Earn Honors from OCF

The University of Findlay football team placed nine players on the 2013 All-Ohio team as Ohio College Football announced their yearly awards on Jan. 1.

The Oilers had seven players earn first team honors with five of them coming on the offensive side of the ball.

Sophomore running back Daiquone Ford, junior wide receiver Lloyd Henry, senior tight end Jaryd Brown, junior center Damon Howe and senior guard Justin Music all captured first team honors for the Oilers on offense.

Ford has earned a number of awards for his incredible season and has been named All-American, all-region and all-conference after rushing for 1,789 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Henry was a first team all-conference player for Findlay after registering 71 catches for 951 yards and seven touchdowns while Brown, also a first team all-conference performer, had 38 receptions for 394 yards and four scores.

Howe, a first team all-conference player, and Music, a second team all-conference honoree, helped pave the way for the Oilers offense to average 37.9 points per game and a total of 504.5 yards of total offense per contest.

Defensively, junior defensive end Kevin Brewton and junior safety Harold Jones-Quartey each were selected as first team all-Ohio picks.

Brewton was a first team all-conference pick after recording 13.5 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks while Jones-Quartey made 92 tackles to go along with three interceptions.

In addition, senior wide receiver Seth White and senior linebacker Trevor Smith earned second team all-Ohio honors.

White racked up 37 catches for 550 yards and five touchdowns, ending his career as the all-time leader in receptions at Findlay with 149.

Smith, who joined White as a second team all-conference pick for the Oilers, had 77 tackles and four sacks during his final year of eligibility.
