The Oilers football team will travel to Midland, Mich. on Saturday, Oct. 18 to face Northwood University. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

Coach Keys Weekly

Don't forget to tune into 88.3 FM "WLFC" for Coach Keys Weekly.  The radio show will be broadcast live from Fricker's every Monday evening during the season.  The show is aired live from 6-7 p.m. on Monday evenings.  Fans are encouraged to attend the show so they can listen live over the sound system and enjoy the great food Fricker's has to offer.

The Series

The Oilers currently trail in the all-time series against Northwood 11-8 dating back to the 1962 season when they defeated the Timberwolves 70-0.

The two programs last met in the season opener of the 2011 campaign, which saw Northwood claim a 14-10 win.

Monterae Williams led the offense with 144 yards on 26 carries while Jaryd Brown caught eight passes for 103 yards and a score.

Clay Belton finished the game by completing 13-of-27 passes for 163 yards.  He also ended up with one touchdown and one interception in the game.

Defensively, Brandon Butler led the team with ten tackles while Kenny Klatt and Richard Sumlin registered seven tackles apiece.

Head Coach Rob Keys

Head coach Rob Keys is currently in his fourth season at the helm of the Oilers football program. During his tenure with the team, Keys has guided the Oilers to a 25-13 overall record. He has also posted a 22-12 record in conference play.

The Oilers

The Oilers assaulted the record book in their 47-7 win over Walsh University on Oct. 11 at Donnell Stadium, which gave them a 4-2 record on the season.

The Oilers set team records for most first downs via the pass (21) and most passing yards in a game (456). They also got some stellar individual performances in the win as several of the Oilers established new school records.

Verlon Reed completed 30-of-45 passing attempts for a school record 414 yards to lead the offense. He also threw for three touchdowns and ran for 26 more yards on the ground. His favorite target on the day was senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry, who set new school records for receptions (15) and receiving yards (202).

As a team, the Oilers rolled up 604 yards of total offense and limited the Cavaliers to a mere 134 yards.

The Timberwolves

The Timberwolves are coming off of a 21-6 loss against #22 Michigan Tech and have a 3-3 record on the season with a 2-3 mark in conference play.

Jared Briguglio leads the offense with 647 rushing yards and four touchdowns while Mark Morris has thrown for 543 yards and six scores.

Michael Fisher leads the team with 68 tackles while Ayrn Curtis has picked off three passes.

Henry Earns Accolades

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry was tabbed the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Oilers 47-7 win over Walsh on Oct. 11.  Henry earned the honor by catching 15 balls for 202 yards and two scores. Henry established new single game school records for his catches and receiving yards in the win.

A Record-Breaking Day

The Oilers set six school records in their 47-7 win over Walsh on Oct. 11.  They established team game records for pass completions (32), passing yards (456) and passing first downs (21). Senior quarterback Verlon Reed established a new single game record for passing yards with 414 while senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry set new game records with 15 catches for 202 yards. 

Reception Record Book

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry is working his way up the record books with 141 career receptions, the second best total in school history.  Seth White (2010-13) is currently the all-time record holder in receptions with 149.

Henry has also accumulated 1,914 career receiving yards, a total that ranks sixth all-time at Findlay.  He is chasing Seth White for fifth place in the record book as White recorded 1,931 yards with Findlay from 2010-13.

Scott McLaughlin (1991-94) is currently the all-time leader in receiving yards at Findlay with 2,403.

Finding the End Zone

Senior quarterback Verlon Reed has accounted for 122 points so far this year, the second best total in the GLIAC and the ninth best mark in the nation.  Reed has thrown for 13 touchdowns and also rushed for seven as well.  The signal caller also has a two-point conversion this year too.

Reed accumulated a career-high six total touchdowns in the Oilers 46-38 win over Hillsdale on Sep. 6 to open the season.

Sticky Hands

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry leads the GLIAC with 45 receptions this season, which is the 11th best total in the nation. He is also ranked second in the conference and 19th in the nation in receiving yards with 609 and second in the league in receiving touchdowns with five.

Henry caught a season-high and school record 15 balls for 202 yards in the Oilers 47-7 win over Walsh on Oct. 11.

Picking Up 3rd Downs

The Oilers have been converting 49.5 percent of their third down attempts, the second best mark in the GLIAC. Their percentage is also the 13th best mark in the nation.

Racking up the Yardage

Senior quarterback Verlon Reed leads the GLIAC in total offense as he is averaging 326.3 yards per game.  His total is also the 13th best mark in all of NCAA Division II football.
