Warriors Win 43-10 Over Oilers

The University of Findlay football team lost their final home game of the season by a score of 43-10 against Wayne State University on Nov. 1 in Donnell Stadium. The loss gives the Oilers a 4-5 record on the season with a 3-5 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers put the ball on the turf seven times during the game and turned it over five times as the Warriors held Findlay to a season-low 267 yards of total offense.

Senior quarterback Verlon Reed completed 10-of-21 passing attempts for 103 yards, but had three interceptions. He also ran the ball seven times for 50 yards. His 103 passing yards enabled him to break the school record for passing yards in a season as he now has 2,354. The previous record of 2,329 was set by Clay Belton during the 2012 campaign.

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry made seven catches for 88 yards and is closing in on some records of his own. He has now caught 68 passes for 920 yards this season. The school record for catches in a season is 74, set by Mike Chambers in 2008. The record for receiving yards in a season also belongs to Chambers, who had 1,027 during the 2009 season.

Freshman running back Chauncey Bridges rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown on seven carries while senior quarterback Mitchell Faine threw for 49 yards in the loss.

Senior linebacker Eric Palmore-Lett and sophomore linebacker Myles Alexander led the defense with 14 tackles apiece. Alexander also had two tackles for a loss, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.

Senior safety Harold Jones-Quartey added 11 stops while sophomore linebacker Brad Fenton made nine.

The Oilers will be back in action on Nov. 8 when they travel to Canton, Ohio to take on Malone at 3:30 p.m.
