The Game

The Oilers will host 4th-ranked Ferris State on Saturday, Oct. 3. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game is scheduled to begin at noon in Donnell Stadium.

Promotion

The University of Findlay football program is inviting all youth football players to attend their game against the Bulldogs. Youth football players who wear their jersey to the game will receive free admission. Parents of the youth football players will receive a discounted ticket price of $5 for reserved tickets.

Don't forget to tune into 88.3 FM "WLFC" for Coach Keys Weekly.  The radio show will be aired live from Fricker's every Monday evening during the season.  The show is aired live from 6-6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings.  Fans are encouraged to attend the show so they can listen live over the sound system and enjoy the great food Fricker's has to offer.

The Series

The Oilers trail 12-11 in the all-time series against the Bulldogs dating back to the 1934 campaign when Findlay came out on top by a score of 12-6.

Last season the Bulldogs defeated the Oilers by a score of 49-21 in Big Rapids, Mich.

Verlon Reed completed 18-of-28 passing attempts for 191 yards and a score while Luke Hampton hauled in two passes for 83 yards.

Dylan Blunk had five catches for 45 yards, Lloyd Henry caught five balls for 43 yards and Chauncey Bridges accumulated 58 rushing yards on 12 attempts.

Harold Jones-Quartey led the defense with 17 tackles and a forced fumble while Eric Palmore-Lett made ten stops.

Head Coach Rob Keys

Head coach Rob Keys is in his fifth season at the helm of the Oilers football program in 2015.  He has recorded a 29-18 record with the program as a head coach, which includes a 25-17 mark in GLIAC games.

The Oilers

The Oilers suffered a 40-28 loss at then 13th-ranked Ashland last Saturday. The Oilers had three turnovers in the game and were unable to overcome a 19-point deficit despite cutting the lead to five points on two occasions in the second half.

Rhys Gervais completed 27-of-48 passing attempts for 341 yards and three touchdowns. He also threw three interceptions, his first picks of the season.

Tim Szabo caught five passes for 115 yards while Jason Moore had nine receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Airion Kosak added four catches for 66 yards while Dylan Blunk made four receptions for 34 yards.

Marcus Jones led the ground game with 12 carries for 98 yards and one touchdown while Daiquone Ford managed 22 yards on nine carries.

Myles Alexander paced the defense with 17 tackles while Anthony Linnear had 13 stops.

The #13 Bulldogs

The 4th-ranked Bulldogs are 3-0 on the year and are led by quarterback Jason Vander Laan, who is the reigning Harlon Hill Trophy winner.

Vander Laan has thrown for 959 yards and seven touchdowns this season and has also rushed for 338 yards and five scores.

Antonio Agurs has 26 catches for 284 yards to lead the receivers.

Moving on Up

Senior running back Daiquone Ford ranks eighth on the Oilers all-time rushing list with 2,929 career yards. Ford is chasing Allen Smith for seventh place on the all-time list. Smith racked up 2,993 career yards for Findlay from 1962-65.

Ford, who has battled injuries during his career with the Oilers, had a monster sophomore campaign when he was a regional finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, the NCAA Division II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. The Myrtle Beach, S.C. native racked up 1,789 rushing yards, the second highest single-season total in school history, and also darted his way to 24 touchdowns, the best total in the history of the program.

During his career, Ford has 11 career 100-yard games. His best game came in a 48-27 win over Lake Erie on Oct. 26, 2013 when he set school records with 44 carries for 317 yards and six touchdowns.

An Explosive Offense

The Oilers are averaging 568.5 yards of total offense in their first three games, the best total in the GLIAC and the second best average in NCAA Division II.

Findlay's passing offense is averaging 388.8 yards per game, which is the second best total in the nation. They also lead the league in passing yards per contest.

Riding Rhys

Sophomore quarterback Rhys Gervais is leading the GLIAC in passing yards per game at 388.8. He has completed 102-of-157 (65.0%) passing attempts with 14 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Gervais ranks second nationally in passing yards per game (388.8) and total passing yards (1,555). He also ranks third in passing touchdowns (14) and fourth in total offense (392.8).

Gervais leads the conference in passing yards, total passing yards and passing touchdowns. He ranks third in the GLIAC in total offense.

Spreading the Wealth

The Oilers have three receivers ranked in the top-10 of the GLIAC in receiving yards per game. Sophomore Jason Moore (106.0) ranks second, junior Dylan Blunk (96.5) ranks fifth and senior Tim Szabo (81.3) ranks ninth.

Moore 424 receiving yards is the 16th best total in the nation while his five touchdown catches ranks 11th in all of NCAA Division II. It is also the best total in the GLIAC.

Lighting Up the Scoreboard

The Oilers are averaging 39.0 points per game this season. Their point per game total is the second best in the GLIAC and the 24th best mark in NCAA Division II football.
