The Game

The Oilers will be back out on the road to face Walsh University on Saturday, Oct. 10. The game is scheduled to begin at noon in Canton, Ohio.

Don't forget to tune into 88.3 FM "WLFC" for Coach Keys Weekly.  The radio show will be aired live from Fricker's every Monday evening during the season.  The show is aired live from 6-6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings.  Fans are encouraged to attend the show so they can listen live over the sound system and enjoy the great food Fricker's has to offer.

The Series

The Oilers hold a 3-0 lead in the all-time series against Walsh, dating back to the 2012 campaign when Findlay came out on top by a score of 26-7.

The Oilers defeated the Cavaliers 47-7 last season in Donnell Stadium behind 414 passing yards from Verlon Reed. He completed 30-of-45 passing attempts and threw three touchdowns in the win.

Reed's favorite target on the day was Lloyd Henry, who set school records for receptions (15) and receiving yards (202).

Defensively, Harold Jones-Quartey had seven tackles while Myles Alexander made six stops and recorded two sacks in the win.

As a team, the Oilers rolled up 604 yards of total offense and limited the Cavaliers to a mere 134 yards.

Head Coach Rob Keys

Head coach Rob Keys is in his fifth season at the helm of the Oilers football program in 2015.  He has recorded a 29-19 record with the program as a head coach, which includes a 25-18 mark in GLIAC games.

The Oilers

The Oilers suffered a 42-39 loss at home against 4th-ranked Ferris State last week. The Oilers built a 28-14 lead at the break, but were unable to hold on for the victory.

Rhys Gervais ended the game by completing 17-of-31 passing attempts for 292 yards and four touchdowns. His favorite target was Tim Szabo, who caught seven balls for 139 yards and a score.

Chauncey Bridges rushed 14 times for 118 yards while Daiquone Ford had 35 yards and a score on six carries.

Anthony Linnear paced the defense with 15 tackles while Aaron Ivory and Daouda Sylla had nine tackles apiece.

The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers lost 16-7 against Northwood last week in Canton, Ohio. The loss gave Walsh a 0-5 record on the season with a 0-5 mark in the GLIAC.

Aaron Male has paced the offense with 431 rushing yards while Reid Worstell has thrown for 641 yards and five touchdowns. Jason Fracassa has also seen time as the signal caller and has 557 passing yards on the season with one touchdown.

Matt Matuska has caught 23 balls for 376 yards and a score while Nicholas King leads the defense with 49 tackles.

An Explosive Offense

The Oilers are averaging 540.2 yards of total offense on the season, the second best total in the GLIAC and the third best average in NCAA Division II.

Findlay's passing offense is averaging 369.4 yards per game, which is the second best total in the nation. They also lead the league in passing yards per contest.

Riding Rhys

Sophomore quarterback Rhys Gervais is leading the GLIAC in passing yards per game at 369.4. He has completed 119-of-188 (63.3%) passing attempts with 18 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Gervais ranks second nationally in passing yards per game (369.4) and total passing yards (1,847). He also ranks fourth in passing touchdowns (18) and sixth in total offense (372.2).

Gervais leads the conference in passing yards, total passing yards and passing touchdowns. He ranks third in the GLIAC in total offense.

Spreading the Wealth

The Oilers have three receivers ranked in the top-10 of the GLIAC in receiving yards per game. Senior Tim Szabo (92.8) ranks second, sophomore Jason Moore (84.8) ranks sixth and junior Dylan Blunk (84.6) ranks seventh.

Moore and sophomore tight end Anthony Federico have also caught five touchdowns apiece on the season, the 20th best total in the nation. The touchdown receptions are also the best mark in the GLIAC.

Lighting Up the Scoreboard

The Oilers are averaging 39.0 points per game this season. Their point per game total is the fourth best in the GLIAC and the 26th best mark in NCAA Division II football.

Moving the Chains

The Oilers lead the GLIAC in total first downs with 132 so far. The total is also the eighth best mark in the nation. Findlay has been very good on third downs so far, which has helped them achieve a large amount of their first downs. They are converting 54.3 percent of their third down attempts, the second best mark in the GLIAC and the fifth best percentage in the nation.
