Gervais Named GLIAC Player of the Week

Sophomore quarterback Rhys Gervais was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 16.

Gervais led the Oilers to a 45-42 win over Northern Michigan at Donnell Stadium on Saturday. The signal caller completed 17-of-29 passing attempts for 372 yards and five touchdowns. His five touchdowns tied his own school record for most touchdowns in a game. He also threw an 85-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Tim Szabo, the second longest passing touchdown in school history.

Gervais ends his sophomore campaign with school records for completions in a season (228), passing attempts in a season (362), passing yards in a season (3,353), total offense in a season (3,439) and passing touchdowns in a season (33). The Oilers also set passing records as a team for yards (3,350) and completions (229).

The Puyllap, Wash. native led the GLIAC in passing yards (3,353) and passing yards per game (304.8). His 33 touchdown passes ranked second in the conference as well. His passing touchdowns rank seventh nationally while his passing yards and passing yards per game are good for ninth in the nation.
