The Oilers

The Oilers have won consecutive games for the first time this season after they took down Tiffin last Saturday. The 27-23 win gave Findlay a 4-4 record and they currently sit in fourth place in the GLIAC South.

Junior Rhys Gervais currently sits in first in the GLIAC with 179 pass completions and 292 attempts. He is second in yards (2,217), and third in yards per game (277.1). He is second with 22 touchdown passes.

Junior Jason Moore is having a phenominal year catching the ball as he currently sits in second in the GLIAC with 835 yards and 104.4 yards per game. His 12 touchdown catches are tied for first in the league while his 50 receptions are fourth.

Senior kicker Tyler Bugeja was last week's GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week after he knocked in a pair of field goals, one of which gave the Oilers the lead. He also connected on all three of his extra points.

The Lakers

The Grand Valley State Lakers have begun their 2016 season with an 8-0 record overall and a 7-0 mark in GLIAC play. They began the year as the third ranked team in the country and moved up to #2 in the third week of the season. This season is the first since 2010 that the Lakers have started 8-0. That year, they lost in week nine 20-17 on the road at Michigan Tech.

Sophomore Marty Carter leads the rushing attack and is one of the best in the GLIAC. He rankes second in the league with 1,115 yards, 139.4 yards per game, and 8.2 yards per carry. He leads the conference with 14 rushing touchdowns.

Fellow sophomore Bart Williams is in his second year as the starting signal-caller for Grand Valley. A Don Hansen All-American a season ago, Williams is putting together another solid year. He is currently third in the league with 16 touchdown passes, fourth with 1,899 passing yards, and fifth with 237.4 yards per game.

Senior Sydney Omameh has been an anchor on the defensive line as he has racked up 25 tackles on the season, ten of which have been sacks. His ten sacks are second in the league. He also has a couple of fumble recoveries on the year.

Junior Linebacker Collin Schlosser is the team's leading tackler and has made 69 stops with seven tackles-for-loss and two sacks.

Record Watch |Rhys Gervais:

After setting multiple season records last season, Gervais is again nearing some season marks. This year he has thrown for 2,217 yards, fourth at Findlay for yards in a season. His 179 pass completions are good for fourth in a season while his 22 touchdowns are tied for third.

After this outstanding first season, Gervais' name can also be found in the career record book, as well. In Oct. 15th win over Hillsdale, Gervais passed Kevin Crooks (2001-04) for the most completions in a career. Gervais currently has 407 passes completed. He is currently second at UF with 654 pass attempts and is chasing the mark of 685 set by Kevin Crooks (2001-2004) for first.

Perhaps most impressive is the amount of yards Gervais has thrown for in his short time as the quarterback. On October 8 against Wayne State, Rhys passed Bo Hurley to become the school's all-time leading passer. Gervais currently has 5,570 passing yards.

Gervais also sits in sole possession of second all-time at UF for touchdown passes in a career. He currently has 55 and is chasing Bo Hurley who threw 57 touchdowns from 1994-1997. In the win over Hillsdale on Oct. 15, Gervais eclipsed the 2,000 yard mark for the 2016 season making him just the second quarterback in UF history to have multiple 2,000 yard passing seasons. The other was Clay Belton who threw for 2,039 in 2011 and 2,329 in 2012.

Dylan Blunk:

Senior wide receiver Dylan Blunk ranks third all-time at Findlay with 143 receptions after leading the team last year with 65 receptions. He needs to reach 150 to pass Seth White (2011-13), who caught 149 balls, for second.

Blunk is also nearing the top in receiving yards in a career as he currently ranks eighth all-time with 1,765 yds. To reach the top five, Blunk needs to get to 1,942 yards which would tie Mike Chambers (2008-09).

Jason Moore:

Junior Jason Moore is currently third at UF for receiving touchdowns in a season with 12. Rick Hatfield holds the top two spots with 14 and 13 TDs in 1979 and 1978, respectively.
