Oilers Pound William Jewell 55-17

The University of Findlay football team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 55-17 win over William Jewell on Sep. 16 in Liberty, Mo.

The Oilers took control from the beginning and racked up 37 first downs while possessing the ball for 40:52. Their 23 first downs via rush finished one shy of setting a new school record. Findlay also churned out 587 yards of total offense, which included 367 rushing yards.

Senior Daouda Sylla paced the Oilers with 136 yards on 24 carries while junior Michael Campbell had 105 yards on 17 carries. Campbell also scored two touchdowns while Sylla crossed the goal line once.

Junior Rhys Gervais completed 16-of-19 passing attempts for 191 yards and four touchdowns while junior Jason Moore had six receptions for 65 yards and three scores. Moore now ranks third all-time at Findlay with 28 career touchdown receptions.

Senior Rhonald Houston led the defense with five tackles and an interception while junior Francis Cutchember had four stops and a pick.

The Oilers will be back in action again next week when they host Tuskegee at 1pm.
