Findlay Earns First Ever NCAA DII Playoff Berth

Findlay, Ohio – 2017 has been a historic season for the University of Findlay football team. On Sunday, Nov. 12, the Oilers, who as a team anxiously watched the NCAA selection show together in Martin Lecture Hall, found out that their historic run would continue with a berth in the 2017 NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Findlay, ranked no. 21 in the most recent American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top-25 Poll, will enter the playoffs as Super Region One's no. 7 seed and will travel to Shepherdstown, West Virginia take on the no. 2 team in the region, the Shepherd University Rams. Shepherd was ranked no. 2 in the country in last week's AFCA poll and finished the regular season with a 10-0 record and a Mountain East Conference Championship

"This team has worked harder than any team I've ever coached", said Coach Rob Keys. "The slate is clean and there are no records anymore. It's one game at a time. We're not happy just being one of the 28. We want to be the one, and that started tonight."

Despite a loss in Saturday's Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship game, the Oilers finished the regular season with nine wins, the most in a season at Findlay since 2002. The last time Findlay played in a playoff game was December 20, 1997 when the Oilers defeated Willamette in the NAIA National Championship by a score of 14-7.
