Alten Collects D2CCA All-American Award

D2CCA Release

Findlay, Ohio – University of Findlay football senior Andrew Alten added another award to his résumé on Wednesday, Dec. 13 as he collected second team all-American status from the DII Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA). The award is voted on by athletic department communications and sports information directors of Division II institutions across the country.

Alten, the Great Midwest Offensive Lineman of the Year and AFCA first team all-American, anchored an offensive line that, prior to his injury in week nine, protected its quarterback better than any o-line in the country, allowing just 0.33 sacks per game at that time. In Alten's nine games, Findlay rushed for 292.3 yards per game (fourth in the country), scored 47.7 points per game (third in the country), and picked up 248 first downs (second in the country). His efforts helped lead an Oilers offense that was one of just two teams in the country in any division to post 250+ yards of rushing offense and passing offense (the other was Ohio State). Alten was also a major key to propelling Findlay to its first ever NCAA Playoffs.

Alten, the only player from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) on either team, joins 2015 graduate Chris Reaper (1st Team) as the only two players to have earned all-American status from the D2CCA.
