Oilers Ranked #22 in AFCA Postseason Poll
Findlay, Ohio – Following the most successful season in the NCAA Division II era of the program, the University of Findlay football team has landed in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Postseason Poll for the first time in school history. The poll, which was released on Monday, Dec. 18, had the Oilers ranked no. 22 in the country, the only school from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) in the final poll.
Findlay, which finished 10-3 and was one of the final 16 teams alive in the NCAA Division II Playoffs, ended the year with one of the best offenses in the country. The Oilers led the nation in first downs offense, picking up 359 first downs, and was the only team in college football, any division, that picked up 3,300 yards both on the ground and through the air. On the other side of the ball, Findlay's defense scored five touchdowns, eighth in the country, forced 31 turnovers, and gave up just 19.2 points per game, the least in the Rob Keys era.
In total, Oilers players picked up 28 all-conference awards including three Player of the Year awards, five all-region awards, and four all-American awards.
