Alten Earns D2Football.com All-American

D2Football.com Release

Findlay, Ohio – Although the season ended more than a month ago, University of Findlay football senior Andrew Alten is still collecting awards. On Friday, Jan. 5, D2Football.com announced their all-American list and Alten, a native of Loveland, Ohio, was listed on the second team.

Alten, the Great Midwest Offensive Lineman of the Year, AFCA all-American, AP all-American, and D2CCA all-Ameican, anchored an offensive line that, prior to his injury in week nine, protected its quarterback better than any o-line in the country, allowing just 0.33 sacks per game at that time. In Alten's nine games, Findlay rushed for 292.3 yards per game (fourth in the country), scored 47.7 points per game (third in the country), and picked up 248 first downs (second in the country). His efforts helped lead an Oilers offense that was one of just two teams in the country in any division to post 250+ yards of rushing offense and passing offense (the other was Ohio State). Alten was also a major key to propelling Findlay to its first ever NCAA Playoffs.

Alten joins 2015 graduate Chris Reaper as the only players to earn spots on D2Football.com all-American teams. Reaper earned first team in 2015.
