Snyder and Jackson Earn G-MAC Players of the Week
Findlay, Ohio - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced its selections for Athlete of the Week on Monday, Nov. 14. Findlay had two players selected as sophomore kicker Austin Snyder earned Special Teams Player of the Week while senior Jeremiah Jackson earned Defensive Player of the Week.
Sophomore Austin Snyder was critical in the Oilers' win over Tiffin on Saturday as he was perfect at his craft, making 2-of-2 field goals and 3-of-3 extra points. Both of his field goals came in the pivotal second half of play. His first was in the third quarter, a 28-yard kick, and his second proved to be the game-winner, a go-ahead field goal with 5:20 to play in the game that put Findlay in the lead for good. Snyder's two field goals gave him 15 on the season, establishing new G-MAC and Findlay records for field goals made in a single-season.
This is Snyder's second Player of the Week honor this season and the third of his career.
Another critical performance came from senior Jeremiah Jackson who has earned Defensive Player of the Week. Against the Dragons, Jackson made five tackles including a half-tackle-for-loss. But it was his takeaways that made the big difference as he made two game-changing plays. The first came in the second quarter when Jackson halted a promising drive by Tiffin, forcing a fumble at the Oilers 32-yard line that was recovered by the Oilers. Three plays later Findlay was in the end zone. His second big play that deflated the Dragons' sideline came just before halftime when, with less than a minute to play, he scooped up a fumble on the Oilers 13 yard line and raced 87 yards the other direction for a touchdown, giving Findlay a 21-0 lead at the half.
This is the first Player of the Week honor this season for Jackson and the second of his career.
