Olmstead Drafted by St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL

XFL Draft List

Findlay, Ohio – Former University of Findlay football player Christian Olmstead has been drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks of the new-look XFL, one of just three professional football leagues in the United States, joining the National Football League (NFL) and the United States Football League (USFL). He was selected in the ninth round.

The St. Louis Battlehawks are one of eight teams in the re-booted XFL, which last played a season in 2020. The team will play under the direction of head coach Anthony Becht in The Dome at America's Center in downtown St. Louis, an arena which can seat 67,000 spectators.

Olmstead most recently has played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Montreal Alouettes, the team he signed with in October of 2021. Prior to that, he had spent time played in The Spring League (TSL), a former eight-team professional football league in the United States. Olmstead played on the TSL Lineman where he helped guide the squad to a TSL Mega Bowl Championship.

While at Findlay, Olmstead was a two-time all-Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) performer, started in 34 games, and was a member of an offensive line that helped produce one of the most potent offenses in the country during his time. He was also a member of the Oilers' first-ever NCAA Division II Playoff team in 2017, a squad that went on the road to upset undefeated and no. 2 Shepherd in the first round, securing Findlay's first Division II playoff victory.

Olmstead is the second player from Findlay to play for the Battlehawks, joining Harold Jones-Quartey who played for St. Louis in 2020.
