Bio

Darius Davis is in his fifth season with the Oilers in 2021 and will now serve as the co-defensive coordinator and will work with the defensive line. Davis also heads up the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts of Findlay's athletic department which focuses on making Findlay, and specifically that department of athletics, a place of inclusion, open mindedness, and belonging for student-athletes of all backgrounds.

In the abbriviated spring season of 2021, Findlay's defense led the G-MAC in ppg against, allowing just 6.5 ppg. Their five touchdowns allowed were the least by any team in the conference while the 249.5 yards per game allowed ranked second. The strength of that squad was stopping the run where the Oilers led the conference with just 81.2 yards per game allowed on the ground. For that effort, Findlay had eight players earn all-conference honors including Christopher Jefferson who earned G-MAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The 2019 was a special one of the defensive unit. The Oilers allowed just 21.9 points per game and saw seven players earn all-conference honors including Christopher Jefferson who was named G-MAC Defensive Player of the Year after recording a school-record nine interceptions. Jefferson would go on to earn a pair of regional Player of the Year awards and four all-American awards giving him one of the most decorated seasons in school history.

2017 was a special season for the Oilers as they spent most of the year ranked in the top-25 and earned the program's first trip to the NCAA Division II National Playoffs. Davis coached senior Johnny Hopkins to a G-MAC Defensive Lineman of the Year award and all-region honors and helped guide the Oilers' defense to a conference-best 19.2 points per game allowed.

Davis, a graduate of Wayne State College, comes to Findlay after one year at The College of Wooster where he coached the defensive line. During his time at Wooster, Davis had his unit ranked third in the conference and in the top quarter of the country in tackles for a loss per game.

Prior to his time with the Fighting Scots, Davis played in the Champions Professional Indoor Football League for the Sioux City Bandits. While with the Bandits, Davis compiled 104 tackles in 30 games including 18.5 sacks. 14 of those sacks came during the 2014 campaign.

Davis, who holds a sport management degree, spent two years while he was playing for the Sioux City Bandits as a defensive line coach at Wayne State, had a standout collegiate career. He was selected as the NSIC Defensive Newcomer of the Year and was a two-time all-conference and all-region pick.
