#2 Oilers Smash Southwestern 88-49

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked second in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, defeated Southwestern College by a score of 88-49 on Wednesday, December 29 in Phoenix, Arizona. The win gives the Oilers an 11-0 record on the season.

Individually, freshman forward Greg Kahlig led the team with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting while senior guard Nathan Hyde added 14 points and six rebounds.

Sophomore guard Aaron Robinson added 11 points, six rebounds and three assists while junior guard Kyle Caiola contributed ten points.

As a team the Oilers made 35-of-71 (49.3%) shots and out-rebounded Southwestern 53-32. They also forced 23 turnovers and held the Eagles to a mere 32.7 percent (17-of-52) shooting clip.

The Oilers dominated the paint, scoring 50 over their points there and also got 40 points from the bench as freshman guard Sean Samsel, senior forward Tyler Sparks and senior center Jason Wehri each recorded seven points.

The Oilers will be back in action on January 5 when they host Ashland University at 6 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
