Hyde, Caiola Named 1st Team All-GLIAC
Senior guard Nathan Hyde and junior guard Kyle Caiola were both named First Team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) on Friday, March 4 as the league office released their annual postseason awards.
Ferris State University's Justin Keenan and Bill Sall were selected as the player and coach of the year, respectively, while Tiffin University's Joe Graessle was tabbed as the top freshman.
Hyde, a first team all-conference performer last year as well, is leading the team with a 14.6 points per game average. He is also averaging 4.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
The 2010 GLIAC Tournament MVP, Hyde is ranked second in the nation in free throw shooting percentage, hitting 91.8 percent (134-of-146) of his attempts. The Findlay, Ohio native also leads the team with 43 three pointers and has currently racked up 1,510 career points, the 13th best total in school history.
Caiola, who transferred from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell where he was a two-time all-conference player, is averaging 13.9 points, 2.4 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. He is also shooting 50.0 percent (114-of-228) from the field, 43.0 percent (37-of-86) from the three point line and 88.7 percent (110-of-124) from the charity stripe.
In three years of competition at the NCAA Division II level, the Parma, Ohio native has scored 1,418 points.
In addition, sophomore guard Aaron Robinson was selected as an all-defensive player for the first time in his career.
Robinson is averaging 10.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
