#3 Oilers Hold Off Panthers For 64-58 Win

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked third in the nation, escaped Columbus, Ohio with a 64-58 win over Ohio Dominican University on Saturday, February 12. The win gives the Oilers a 21-1 record on the season with a 14-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers blew a 16-point lead in the second half to hang on for the victory as they shot only 32.8 percent (20-of-61) from the floor, but they did grab 17 offensive rebounds and connected on 22-of-27 (81.5%) attempts from the free throw line.

Junior guard Kyle Caiola led the way with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting while senior guard Nathan Hyde added 16 points on the strength of a 9-of-10 showing from the charity stripe.

Senior forward Tyler Sparks had a stellar game off the bench, recording seven points, eight rebounds and two steals.

The Panthers were led by Aaron Gibbs, who scored 19 points in the game.

The Oilers will be back in action again on February 17 when they face Grand Valley State University at 6 pm in Allendale, Michigan.
