100 Points, 100 Home Wins For #4 Oilers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked fourth in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, defeated Michigan Technological University by a score of 100-60 on Thursday, February 3 to run their regular season home winning streak to 100 games. The victory gives the Oilers an 18-1 record on the year with an 11-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers built a 49-36 advantage and led by as many as 44 points in the second half when junior guard Justin Schomaeker buried a three to put triple digits on the scoreboard.

The Oilers blistered the nets, hitting 59.3 percent (32-of-54) of their shots, which included an 11-of-16 (68.8%) performance from behind the three point line. They also were excellent from the free throw line, hitting 25-of-27 (92.6%) attempts.

Senior guard Nathan Hyde led the way with 19 points on 5-of-7 shooting. He drilled all six of his free throw attempts and connected on all three of his triple tries in the game.

Sophomore forward Jack Smith added 14 points while sophomore guard Aaron Robinson (13), junior guard Kyle Caiola (12) and freshman forward Greg Kahlig (10) all reached double figures in the victory as well.

Senior forward Tyler Sparks provided a boost off the bench with six points, five rebounds and four assists while sophomore forward Brad Piehl registered six points and four boards.

The Huskies were led by Brian Olley's ten points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they host Northern Michigan University at 1 pm in Croy Gymnasium.

Note: The Oilers last regular season home loss came on February 12, 2004. They were defeated 70-68 by Gannon University.
